Things you will need:

One plastic or glass bowl with tight lid (do not use metal containers)

Wooden or Plastic Spoon for Stirring (non-metallic)

Bottle/ distilled Water (for all shades) NO TAP WATER

Petroleum Jelly to apply on skin around hair line. Also, around eyebrow area that you don’t want stain on skin.

Shower cap & Saran Wrap

One Pair of Plastic Gloves / old clothing to wear.

Hair Dye Brush (optional)

2-3 drops of any one essential oils – Lavender, Tea tree oil, peppermint (optional for fragrance and added benefits) Do not use on facial skin - eyebrows/ beard.

For maximum gray coverage add 4-6 drops of apple cider vinegar/lemon juice to the mix prior to applying (Optional- do not use if you might have sensitivity to the acidity)

Before Using Henna: Please be aware that henna is a natural dye that will not only color your hair but will stain anything else it comes into contact within minutes. Please make sure you cover all working area with plastic cover to avoid staining sink, floors etc. Henna will only temporarily stain your skin. It will wash off after a couple of days. Old long sleeve shirt and pants is recommended.
The first thing you’ll want to do is to make certain your hair is squeaky clean and dry as well. Chemical residue, dirt, hairsprays, dry shampoo, and any other hair product will possibly interfere with the desired results. Wash 1 to 2 days before application.

Prepare the Soft black paste: Mix powder with distilled water to create a thick paste until you get a thick yogurt like consistency. DO NOT make the paste watery.

Allow the blend to rest for 1-2 hours in a warm area tightly sealed. Doing so causes the mixture to become active. When the mix dries up, simply add a little bit of water and it will moisten back up.

Before applying the paste and to achieve the best coverage results, section off your hair into four parts: left, right, top, and bottom. Apply Petroleum Jelly around hair line.

Put the gloves on and use a hair dye brush or your fingers to apply the henna in a downward motion, from the roots to the ends. Continue to apply until the entire mixture is exhausted. (You cannot save the paste for later)

Use the saranwrap to cover your hair entirely and top it with shower cap. Your hair should be tightly sealed. You can use a hair dryer for a few minutes to heat henna on hair. Leave for 1.5-2 hours. The longer you keep it the more your hair will absorb color and nutrients.

Rinse and Care: After the processing time, rinse the hair thoroughly with water only (no shampoo) until the water is clear. Apply our hydrating conditioner to maintain the color and nourish the hair. Do not wash for 3 days.
